Wendy Petersen McArthur is a third generation artist from
Clearwater, Florida Her grandmother, Elsie Petersen Wynkoop,
a well known landscape artist tutored Ms. McArthur in the
basic principles of color, line, form and balance, Ms. McArthur
began her art training at the Gulf Coast Arts Center at age
8. By the time that she was in college she had already begun
her career as a professional artist, selling her landscapes
to private collectors around the Southeast.
Many great artists of the past have influenced Ms. McArthur.
She refers to the works of John Singer Sargent, Mary Cassatt
and Cecilia Beaux among others. She strives for a timeless
sense of beauty in each and every one of her commissions.
She uses the Italian technique "al prima" which
involves the skillful manipulation of wet paint, allowing
her to capture a sense of freshness and spontaneity on the
canvas.
Ms. McArthur is a prolific artist with over a hundred portraits
in private and corporate collections throughout the country.
She has an uncanny ability to capture not only the remarkable
likeness of her subject but their personality as well. Through
her confident brush strokes and bold use of color she conveys
a sense of movement and vitality in her works.
Ms. McArthur works exclusively as a portrait artist out of
her studio in Georgia. She has an unfailing dedication to
creating the heirloom quality portrait that her clients demand.
Ms. McArthur is a member of the Portrait Society of America,
the American Society of Portrait Artists and the New York
Portrait Society. |
